The modern flooring contractor is able to choose from a wide range of different products for all elements of their job, and this is certainly true for floor preparation.
So with getting the job done to a high standard in the most efficient timescale possible the priority, how do you choose which products will reliably deliver the goods?
The best way to do this is to select a system of products that have been designed to work together for quality, ease of use and importantly are backed by a single point of contact for experienced technical support.
A good example here is when preparing a floor for the installation of an underfloor heating (UFH) system – a choice that’s proving increasingly popular.
If humidity is above 75% then a damp proof membrane will be needed and if this is the case, then Bostik Screedmaster One Coat Membrane is ideal – it is a solvent-free two part epoxy surface membrane that protects from residual moisture in power floated concrete slab and sand/cement screed.
A one coat application is suitable for up to 90% relative humidity with a UFH system.
This should always be used with a high quality primer such as Bostik Screedmaster Universal Primer.
A smoothing compound of a minimum 3mm depth is required for UFH installations, meaning Bostik Screedmaster Speed is ideal for the job.
A high strength and high performance self-levelling compound that sets in as little as 30 minutes, Screedmaster Speed is protein-free, low odour and can be laid over most common substrates including cementitious screeds, concrete floors and other strong rigid sub floors.
Selecting these products means that you have the assurance that they will work well together, and that you have a single point of contact for any technical enquiries – an important advantage, especially for jobs such as underfloor heating installation.
