Safety matting provides Olympic sized solution

Heronrib matting, manufactured by Plastic Extruders Ltd, is keeping visitors safe at the El Menzah Olympic swimming pool in Tunis, Tunisia. The swimming pool forms part of the large Olympic complex.

The pool operators were concerned that the tiles around the pool and changing room floors were slippery when wet, especially when large numbers of people were using the facility. Specialist Euromed Trading advised that the solution was to install Heronrib matting.  Consequently, this has been laid around the side of the pool and in the changing rooms themselves to provide a safe, warm and comfortable slip resistant surface.

Heronrib features an embossed slip resistant surface with impregnated anti-bacterial and anti-fungal additives.  This ensures that the matting is not only safe underfoot but also hygienic for bare feet because it reduces the risk of cross-contamination.

Heronrib is specially designed to be a high performance solution for sports and leisure facilities, especially in wet areas such as external walkways, changing rooms and around swimming pools.  It is manufactured from hardwearing non-porous vinyl with an open grid construction.  With an overall height of 10mm and raised profile underbars, it helps water to drain away easily in all directions and to straddle pooling water. The matting, available in several colours, is supplied in 10m long rolls and widths of 50cm, 1m and 1.22m.
