Mapei UK has specified and supplied products for the installation of wood flooring on an area of 13,000m2 throughout the prestigious Berkeley Homes Abell & Cleland Westminster apartment development.
The apartment building comprises 1, 2, 3 and 4 bed apartments and penthouses which have been completed to the highest specification and using Eco-rated products from Mapei’s range of resilient products, for substrate preparation ready to receive the engineered wood flooring.

Mapei’s Eco prim T is a water based and low VOC solvent free primer for interior use, ideal for priming before installing levelling compounds. At Abell & Cleland, Eco Prim T was used throughout before applying Latexplan Trade to level and smooth the substrate, ready to receive floor coverings.
Ultrabond Eco S940 1K is Mapei’s one-component, solvent and isocyanate-free sililated polymer adhesive with extremely low emissions of VOCs can be used with all types and sizes of engineered wood flooring, hence it’s suitability for the installation at Abell & Cleland.
Throughout all apartment flooring in the development, Mapesonic CR sound proofing matt was laid directly below the wooden flooring to offer a 17db sound deadening reduction.
The project director from Loughton Contracts Plc, the flooring contractor responsible for the supply and installation of floor finishes at Abell & Cleland, said: “The Mapei products were easy to handle and move about with the difficult daily logistical issues we faced, and confidence in application during install was high.”
