Granorte, the leading manufacturer of recycled cork flooring and walls, made an impact at 100% Design last month, unveiling to the specification community a brand new range of modular cork wall tiles set to transform interiors.
An exclusive line, Cork Collection_03 comprises tiles that combine in various ways to create unique, graphic three-dimensional wall coverings. Drawing inspiration from traditional Portuguese tiles and wood panelling of the 50s and 60s, Collection_03 casts striking rhythmic patterns across the wall.
Available in an array of styles, including five distinct cube shapes, which each come in two separate sizes, 300 x 300mm and 150 x 150mm, Collection_03 tiles can be mixed together to create graphic forms that cover all or part of a surface wall. With a larger tile measuring 300 x 600mm also in the collection, there is a whole host of styles that will allow specifiers and designers to experiment and create a multitude of configurations that redefine the use of wall space.
“Collection_03 has been carefully considered to provide specifiers and designers with a creative way of incorporating cork into design schemes,” explains Paulo Rocha, product manager, Granorte. “The trend-inspiring surfaces that can be created with this collection are unlike anything that we have ever seen before, and will really allow for an individual style statement.
“Cork is so beneficial, delivering enhanced intrinsic acoustic and thermal properties as well as being inherently sustainable, but until now its aesthetic appeal has been quite niche. Alongside our other design-led ranges, Collection_03 challenges this traditional perception and propels this natural material into the forefront of contemporary design.”
Delivering a seemingly endless amount of creative possibility, Collection_03 is created from 100% post-industrial recycled natural cork and manufactured through an eco-efficient process. All trees harvested by Granorte have a life span of 250 years and continually regenerate without harm.
