Fermacell’s underfloor heating overlay system provides superior results

Underfloor heating is becoming an increasingly popular feature, with systems being installed in more than 85 per cent of self-build projects.
There are a number of reasons why demand for underfloor heating is on the rise, especially in the self-build and conservatory markets, which include the ability to allow an even distribution of heat while providing increased comfort levels. Individual room control also enables the temperature to be individually adjusted in each room.
In comparison, traditional heating methods, such as radiators, provide localised heat and usually need to run at a much higher temperature, which convects directly to ceiling level, leaving the temperature at floor level much lower.
In the case of underfloor heating applications, 25mm Fermacell underfloor heating overlay is ideal for projects of all shapes and sizes and can also be used to meet more demanding commercial requirements.
The low resistance of Fermacell 2E22 underfloor heating overlay provides superior heat transference compared to traditional screeds and is around 30 per cent more efficient than timber.
Other benefits of applying Fermacell’s underfloor heating overlay flooring systems include the speed at which it can be installed, which involves a similar method to laying laminate flooring. Fermacell’s unique drying system eliminates the drying time often associated with wet screed flooring systems as the heating can be commissioned in just 24 hours compared to the weeks it can take for traditional screeds to dry.
High specification benefits such as outstanding acoustic performance and fire resistance and the fact Fermacell accepts nearly all floor finishes, including vinyls, laminates, tile and parquet, can also be achieved.
David Prout, Marketing Manager at Fermacell, said: “Today, underfloor heating is a popular feature that can be found in many properties, especially new buildings. Our underfloor heating dry screed 2E22 25mm flooring overlay is so versatile that it provides the ideal solution for both domestic and commercial projects.
“Like all of our products, our underfloor heating system is made from 94 per cent recycled content, and is regularly specified for many reasons, including the fact it can be applied directly over wet underfloor heating systems and commissioned in 24 hours.
“Added to this is the superior heat transference that 2E22 provides compared with traditional screeds. Its low thermal mass is effectively transparent to heat, making the system extremely quick to respond and more efficient.”
Fermacell also manufactures a range of dry screed acoustic and leveling systems.
