Faster, easier specification goes mobile

Architects, designers and contractors can now create fast, accurate specifications anywhere, thanks to Powerspec, from BAL. The world’s first online specification tool for tile adhesives and grouts has been completely upgraded and is now accessible via mobile phones, tablets, laptops or desktops. The improved processing performance means that it is unbelievably fast in use – with no downloads required, is extremely intuitive and simple to use, and responsive to provide the optimal display for whichever type of device is being used to access the specification tool.

Alex Underwood, BAL head of marketing, said: “The upgrade is so comprehensive that this is virtually a new tool. Architects and specifiers can now put Powerspec to work virtually anywhere, as the new version can be used on any popular mobile. The completely refreshed ‘look and feel’ increases user-friendliness to the point that anyone can go online and start to use it immediately, with astonishingly fast results that can be saved for future reference.

A user signs in to Powerspec and can follows an easy click-to-enter path to give details of their tiling project’s background, environmental conditions, tile type and size, area to be tiled and joint width. Powerspec then generates NBS format specifications, conforming to all relevant British standards. The user can opt for an architect’s specification, a contractor’s specification or a method statement. The most appropriate adhesives and grouts can be identified, including quantities required, and detailed material safety and technical information can be downloaded.

Alex Underwood said: “Whether a contractor on site wants to check which grouts they require, or an architect on a train wants to create and save a full, formal M40 specification, they just need to take out their mobile phone, tablet or laptop and log in to new Powerspec. It is designed for use on the move and is impressively simple, extremely fast and highly accurate.”
