4.4 Million More Workplace Pension Savers Since 2012

79% of eligible employees have saved into a workplace pension in at least 3 of the last 4 years, according to figures from the Department for Work and Pensions.

Almost 6.9 million auto-enrolled workers saved £82 billion in workplace pension schemes in 2015.

More than 293,000 employers have completed their auto-enrolment duties.

The number of people saving into a workplace pension has increased by 4.4 million since 2012.

Institute of Fiscal Studies figures show that 95% of the rise in private sector membership between 2012 and 2015 was the result of auto-enrolment.

Morten Nilsson, CEO of NOW: Pensions, said:

“Auto-enrolment is a policy that needs to work for everybody but at the moment it is failing to deliver for millions of the lowest paid workers.

“The 2017 auto-enrolment review is an opportunity for the pensions minister to tackle some of these inadequacies and talk openly about where the policy is succeeding and failing.”
