Work underway on Cormar Carpet’s new southern distribution centre

Leading UK carpet manufacturer, Cormar Carpets, is investing in a new purpose-built distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead, consolidating its regional hub network across the South of England.

Work is already underway at the £15m, 130,000 sq ft facility which will stock and distribute carpet and enable Cormar to continue to provide market-leading service to a growing network of retail customers and strengthen its distribution across the UK.

Said David Judge, managing director at Cormar Carpets: “The new distribution site is a significant investment and will provide employment opportunities within the Hemel Hempstead area.

“We have now reached the first stage of completion, with the amalgamation of the Greenford Cross dock, which was moved to Hemel Hempstead at the end of April.

“The next few months will see further acceleration in activity, including the installation of new equipment and recruiting staff. This demonstrates our total commitment to prompt delivery and providing excellent customer service.”

The new distribution centre will sit alongside the company’s existing outbase depots, providing additional support to current facilities in the loading bay and cut lengths department at Cormar’s Brookhouse Mill site in Greenmount, Bury.

Cormar run a distribution fleet of more than 60 vehicles, delivering to retailers, contractors and wholesalers throughout Great Britain and Eire, on a daily basis. For further information visit www.cormarcarpets.co.uk
