Designer Contracts, the UK’s largest flooring contractor offered its expert carpet recycling knowledge at a seminar held at this year’s Harrogate Flooring Show.
The company’s merchandise and marketing manager, Louise Abbott, contributed to a recycling talk which took place at the show in September in conjunction with Carpet Recycling UK (CRUK), offering her insight into launching a recycling scheme for Designer Contracts last year.
Said Louise: “It was a great opportunity to take part in the seminar which was hosted by CRUK and meet like-minded businesses who wanted to increase their environmental credentials.
“As the requirements for environmental responsibility have increased, our recycling scheme provides a vital green solution to customers who want to track their waste, while also contributing to a safer and cleaner working site.
“Since launching our carpet recycling scheme in September 2013 we have saved 250 tonnes from landfill, showing how serious we are about reducing our impact on the environment.”
Designer Contracts’ recycling scheme works by diverting 90% of its fitter’s unfitted carpet into felt underlay. What isn’t turned into underlay is used in the equestrian sector for arena flooring.
The company has fully staffed offices and warehousing in 12 regions across the UK. As well as flooring, the company supply curtain, blind, furniture and lighting packs and has a full show-home and design service.
