At the FeRFA Awards Dinner on the 9th November, three members of The Preparation Group’s contracting team had their NVQ level 2 diplomas in Surface Preparation and Profiling presented to them by guest speakers Ray Stubbs and Mark Lawrenson. David Priestley, Adrian Kisby and Paul Howard bring the total number of employees that The Preparation Group has supported through the NVQ scheme to thirteen.
The two year course requires great commitment from both the employer and apprentice trainee and involves a combination of classroom and practical sessions plus employer-supported on-site experience.
Says Tracey Glew, Managing Director; ‘We are extremely proud of the new apprentices, they have worked very hard to achieve their qualifications. We are committed to encouraging ongoing educational opportunities and to FeRFA’s scheme, demonstrated by the fact that we have the greatest number of NVQ2 qualified employees via the apprenticeship route. Specifically, we have the most machine operators in the flooring industry, qualified in the specialist NVQ ‘to prepare and profile substrates’.
‘The Preparation Group’s surface preparation, removal and finishing contracting operation, is the largest in the U.K. and we plan to enrol more of our team onto the NVQ program. Our aim is to inspire confidence in clients and main contractors by providing the highest level of professionalism and expertise which can be relied upon, to execute works as safely and expediently as possible, and to apply environmentally friendly and cost effective solutions. A skilled, trained team helps us to deliver that.’
