NSCC and Barclaycard Launch New Partnership

The National Specialist Contractors’ Council (NSCC) was delighted to launch a new partnership with Barclaycard at the NSCC Annual Lunch on 20 November 2013 designed to support Specialist Contractors to grow and manage their cashflow.

Barclaycard is part of Barclays Bank PLC, the UK’s No. 1 payment acceptance provider*, and its business payment solutions are an excellent way of helping NSCC members to realise their business potential. With preferential rates on debit and credit card transactions, NSCC members will be able to accept card payments from their clients meaning no more banking of cheques and the transfer of funds within 3 days. The process can be set up quickly and easily in five days with no joining fee (normally £150) and Barclaycard offers both offline and online solutions for receiving payments.

Barclaycard also supports the use of business credit cards and NSCC members can receive up to 56 days’ interest-free credit and 0% interest for three months on purchases. Being able to accept and make payments by card gives businesses the opportunity to speed up the time it takes to receive money for work undertaken as well as maintain their credit rating with suppliers by paying promptly for materials.

The NSCC Fair Payment Campaign is designed to improve payment practices in the construction industry and, by working with Barclaycard, NSCC is able to offer its members an alternative service that can directly benefit their businesses. Huw Davies, Small Business Partnerships Director at Barclaycard, said:

“We understand how difficult it is for businesses to grow and manage cashflow in today’s challenging financial environment and Barclaycard is delighted to be partnering with NSCC to bring Specialist Contractors a better deal on making and taking payments.”

Over 150 guests from across the supply chain joined NSCC at this year’s Annual Lunch celebrating the construction industry as part of the GREAT campaign, which was launched off the back of the London 2012 Olympic Games to showcase the best of Britain across a range of industries. The guest speaker was Simon Mason, three-time hockey Olympian and Managing Director of a company successfully exporting worldwide, who inspired guests to both enhance their presence within Britain and look at the potential business opportunities for their specialist skills around the world.
