Happy Retirement to the legendary Graham Baldwin – Mapei

Mapei would like to wish all the best to Graham Baldwin who will be retiring after 50 years in the flooring industry. Graham is a well loved, popular character not only at Mapei but amongst many in the flooring industry. Well known for loving his cuppa teas and well liked for his down to earth, honest, good-humoured nature – he is truly a gent.

Graham left school aged 15 and started working as a trainee floor fitter at W H Bright carpet and furniture store. Graham spent the first 26 years of his career firstly fitting domestic and contract carpeting at various companies including Ken’s Carpets and also independently whilst also having sales representative roles at Lawrence Brothers, Homfray Carpets and Alvin Morris.

From there, Graham moved to Laybond where he worked for 12 years under various roles including Manufacturing Liaison Officer. For the remaining 12 years of his career, Graham has worked at Mapei as Resilient Business Development Manager as well as Head of Technical Services and Resilient Product Manager.

In wind down to his retirement, Graham has worked at what is his favourite aspect, the technical side. He has found working as a Technical Service Manager particularly interesting because of the variety of questions he’s faced with, which has kept him on his toes. His vast knowledge and expertise gained in his 50 year career will certainly be irreplaceable.

Graham plans to spend his retirement relaxing and walking his two dogs; Jack, a Flat Coat Retriever, and Annie, a Collie Staff Cross. He also has a talent for woodwork handicraft and will be found at craft fates in Birmingham and the Black Country.

Biggest congratulation Graham from everyone at Mapei, you will be sorely missed!
