A major off-licence and convenience store chain, Bargain Booze, comprises 670 stores across the UK, including those under the Thorougoods name. When it comes to fitting out and refurbishing stores, the Bargain Booze development team turns to Gerflor’s GTI and Creation Clic vinyl flooring ranges to provide a fast and efficient flooring solution.
Bargain Booze is a franchise operation trading under five different fascias that embrace a variety of formats, including off-licences, newsagents, garage forecourts, groceries and CTNs, with various sized stores. The company first started specifying Gerflor products as an alternative to traditional ceramic flooring.
Ceramic flooring is still sometimes used from time to time, although either Gerflor’s GTI fast track Carbon vinyl tiles or Creation Clic luxury vinyl planks in a wood finish are the preferred options. For Bargain Booze, the benefit of both product ranges is that they are loose lay products – so the speed of installation is very much quicker than with ceramic flooring which requires adhesives and grouting. With GTI and Creation Clic, the fit-out and build can follow on as soon as the flooring is laid. As a result, stores do not need to close so lose minimal trading time. Equally importantly, both products ranges are aesthetically pleasing, are extremely durable and are easy to maintain.
The Bargain Booze store in Thornaby, near Middlesborough, is a typical example of where Gerflor products have been successfully installed. The 160m² store managed to trade throughout the refit. This was assisted by the quick install time for the GTI flooring which allowed the shopfitters to keep progressing immediately after the floor was laid. The franchisee had previously specified Gerflor products in another smaller Bargain Booze store.
The GTI range of decorative, loose lay, 635 x 635mm tiles from Gerflor employs a dovetail joint connecting system which makes the tiles quick and easy to install or replace. Gerflor’s Creation Clic System is an easy to install, loose-lay luxury vinyl solution consisting of 17.6 x 100cm interlocking wood effect planks which clip together using Gerflor’s patented ‘Clic’ technology. With both GTI and Creation Clic, little or no preparation of the subfloor is necessary prior to laying and 7% humidity is acceptable.
GTI and Creation Clic are extremely durable, with a wear group ‘T’ rating, and benefit from polyurethane surface treatment (PUR), making maintenance easier and eliminating the need for initial polishes.
Roger Shenton, Senior Development Manager at Bargain Booze, comments:
“The combination of GTI and Creation Clic has been outstanding in terms of appearance, the quality of product, durability and, most importantly for us, the speed with which the product can be installed and is ready to be built upon. Gerflor has delivered on all aspects of the brief given to them from expert advice on products, delivering on time and within budget, through to excellent aftersales service. We look forward to continued success when working with Gerflor in the future.”
