The Flooring Show 2016 Preview

The Flooring Show is Almost Here…

and this year it’s looking to be bigger and better than ever!

Last year, thousands of flooring retailers, distributors, wholesalers, contractors, designers, architects and facilities managers (pretty much everyone in the industry!) from independent, SME and large scale business’, visited The Flooring Show.

From 18th to 20th September, the flooring industry will meet again, and we’d love to see you there. To register for FREE, all you have to do is visit our website www.theflooringshow.com and click ‘Register’ and the online form will take less then five minutes to complete.

A Packed Schedule

Each day of the exhibition will be full of things for visitors and exhibitors to see, remember the Show & Trends Hub open at 9.30am. The Demo Zones will be in action from 10am each day, as will the Seminar Theatre that will begin at 10.45am on Tuesday 20th, demonstrating to all in the Harrogate International Centre (HIC) new products and techniques within the industry.

On Sunday 18th September, when the show has closed exhibitors and visitors alike are invited to the Street Party networking event which will take place inside the HIC. Find out more below!

After a hard day at the Flooring & Tiling Show, visitors and exhibitors are invited to wind down with drinks & canapés and a few surprises while chatting with friends, colleagues and new contacts. The party takes place in The King Suite, on the Flooring Street from 17.30 onwards.

Travelling by Train: Trains run from most major cities in the UK to Leeds and York, with regular National Rail service running from these stations to Harrogate.

Car Parking: Harrogate International Centre has a large underground car park that is FREE OF CHARGE for all Flooring Show visitors. Please be aware that this is on a first come first served basis.

Travelling by Air: Leeds Bradford International Airport is 20 minutes from Harrogate and Manchester international Airport is just under two hours from the town.

Harrogate has an amazing selection of hotels, within walking distance of the Harrogate International Centre, to suit every budget and style. Once again, we have partnered with Reservation Highway who are the shows official accommodation agent. PLEASE BEWARE of Convention Housing; they are a bogus agency contacting exhibitors.

Street Café: Whilst you’re at the show, don’t worry about heading out for food, make you way tour very own Street Café that can be found near The Trends Hub, offering a variety of delicious snacks and meals to choose from. There are also two smaller catering areas in Halls B & C.

The Demo Zones

Continuing on from the success of last year, the free demonstrations will take place in the Kings Suite of the exhibition halls, alongside the popular Trends Hub and Seminar Theatre.

Set across two Halls, Hall B and Hall M; the demonstrations have been split into Subfloor & Tool Demonstrations and Floor Finishes Demonstrations and are run for another year, by CFA/FITA/NICF.

The Trends Hub

Scarlet Opus will be working with The Flooring Show to curate the Trends Hub for the fifth consecutive year, bringing together an imaginative area showing future trends, colour themes and new innovative products. This is a space for both exhibitors and visitors to get inspired and motivated.

This year, the Trends Hub will be home to the Window Merchandising Workshop, where groups of five or six retailers will be given a design trend for SS2017 and have it explained to them. Hints and tips on window merchandising for flooring, tiling and interiors shops. Using a host of props supplied by Scarlet Opus, each group will work with a Trend Forecaster to merchandise their window. With all the windows being created on King Street and the displays changing daily; there will be plenty of opportunity for all visitors and participants to see the results of the workshop and take away some inspiration. Carpet Fitter of The Year 2016

The National Institute of Carpet and Floorlayers (NCIF) have re-launched the Carpet Fitter of the Year Competition after a fifteen year hiatus. The grand final will take place over the first two days of The Flooring Show on 18 and 19 September at the Harrogate International Centre.

Speaking about bringing the Competition back, NICF President, Ian James said “…I always said that if I were ever NICF President I would make it my mission to bring the competition back – after all, there isn’t a fitter in the land that wouldn’t want UK ‘Fitter of the Year’ on his van.

 The competitors entered the competition by registering online and completing a questionnaire, twelve of those who entered have now been chosen to progress forward to the next stage, the practical skills trial at the FITA Training Centre in Loughborough over 26 and 27 May. Six finalists will then progress to take part in the grand final.

The Carpet Fitter of the Year Competition provides a platform for tradespeople to demonstrate their experience, skills, knowledge and competency of their profession, allows for a bit of healthy competition and the chance to win some fantastic prizes: including £1000 cash, a selection of tools, winner’s trophy, one year’s free NICF Master Fitter membership and an iPad that has kindly been donated by Which? Trusted Traders.

Wool Carpet Focus Group

The Wool Carpet Focus Group / Curtis Wool Direct stand have come up with something a little different. Members of the WCFG will have some great new wool carpet ranges on display and the Smiling Sheep in Pink Shades will be featured in many ways around the show – looking cool #naturally.

Expect to see the WoolAbilities on show and “Barnum and Baileyesque” activities will be inviting you to test your skill and strength whilst continuing the evolution of the genre. Expect to see regular demonstrations of how wool and products made from it are naturally fire retardant and how they clean so easily after a spill!
If you ever wondered how wool is spun into yarn you need wonder no more.

Hand spinners will show you the ancient technique that is nowadays highly mechanised, highly skilled and scientifically engineered but is still crafted by man!
The fabulous entrance “It’s Cool To Buy Wool” carpets will be there again, proving that even after last year’s heavy use they are as good as new and making a triumphant return! The Wool Trends Centre

The Campaign for Wool and British Wool will install an exciting, colourful, fun, design-led installation in the centre of the Wool Trends area, which is the hub for http://www.woolretailer.com/ which provides all wool retailers free sign-up to the industry’s latest educational and interactive online promotion.

The fully styled central display area will show off the latest trends while being surrounded by industry leading names, including: Penthouse Carpets, Brockway Carpets, Axminster Carpets and Cavalier Carpets.

At this years show, Adam Carpets will be celebrating 25 years since the launch of their iconic range Fine Worcester Twist, showing all 126 colours the range is available in.

Bronte Carpets are specialists in high quality, custom-made carpets. Available in any colour and any width, from a stair runner to pieces 12 metres wide with no joins or waste, some of Bronte Carpets main ranges will be at the show.
