Eco-vibes, industrial materials and the comeback of wood

Pergo stays ahead of the curve in interior design trends with new luxury vinyl flooring collection.

Pergo, a quality flooring brand by UNILIN, announces the launch of its new and expanded collection of luxury vinyl flooring planks and tiles. Years of investments in research and development have now culminated in a flooring range that is barely distinguishable from natural stone or wooden floors. What’s more, thanks to the relentless work of the Pergo design team, the planks and tiles cater perfectly to contemporary interior design trends.

“For our newest ranges of vinyl flooring, we really pulled out all the stops”, says Oke Nollet, Design Director for Pergo. “Together with my team, I keep a finger on the pulse of what’s brewing in the world of interior design, from Milan to Paris. The trends we pick up – at international trade fairs, in leading design publications and through constant interaction with architects and design professionals – are the leitmotiv for everything we do.”

This season, this commitment once again translates into a range of new décors that offers the perfect solution for anyone who is looking to add a fresh touch to his or her interior. From the unmistakable popularity of wood, to the modern look of stone and industrial materials: there’s a vinyl floor for every taste.

Wood is everywhere

With its true-to life imitations of authentic wooden floors, Pergo offers an affordable and low-maintenance alternative. New vinyl ranges include soft wood designs, like the stylish ‘Light grey chalet pine’, as well as timeless oak designs, like ‘Classic nature oak’.

“Wood is the evergreen of interior design. Yet, now more than ever, it’s the trendy material of choice for anyone who’s looking to create a natural and harmonious home”, Oke explains. “And although Scandinavian design is responsible for a rise in soft wood, oak remains the predominant species. What’s new, however, is a tendency to combine it with powerful colours such as distinct black and red tones.”

Closer to nature

In the wake of this renewed preference for wood, Pergo also noted a growing influence of natural materials and prints in general. “The combination of organic materials and tones creates a refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. It stimulates the senses while, at the same time, spreading energy and a feeling of wellbeing”, Oke commented.

This preference for all things from nature is the driving force behind two distinct trends. The first trend, an outspoken love of purity in textures and colours, inspired Pergo to create its ‘Golden nature oak’ and the ‘Light nature oak’. Both decors go back to the basics. By taking the effect of extensive processing and varnishing out of the equation, they let the wood prints shine at their purest.

The second trend underlining the recent focus on green living is a tendency towards craftsmanship and robust materials. With vinyl floors like the ‘Modern coffee oak’ and ‘Grey heritage oak’, Pergo again proves its proficiency in capturing this defining trend. From the extra matt finishing to an authentic look thanks to grooves on all four sides of the planks, the vinyl floors add a carpenter’s touch to any home.

Industrial materials

“Concrete, metal, marble, slate… leading interior designers have been setting the tone for some time now with the use of industrial materials. And this isn’t just restricted to flooring alone. Furniture, accent walls and even tableware: there’s no limit when it comes to incorporating this trend in your home”, Oke explained.

Unlike its wood imitations, which only come in planks, Pergo produces its stone décors in vinyl tile format. The ‘Light concrete’ vinyl tiles, for instance, add a modern, sleek look to your room otherwise reserved for spacious, but costly industrial lofts. And with Pergo’s ‘Grey scivaro slate’ vinyl tiles, you can give your kitchen that touch of grandeur that is so typical of contemporary design.

No compromise on performance

Despite a sharp focus on design and a unique, natural look, Pergo vinyl floors remain among the most reliable on the market. The new, patented PerfectFold V-click system ensures maximum stability, thus allowing both vertical and horizontal locking for fast and easy installation. And thanks to a protective top layer, Pergo Vinyl planks and Tiles benefit from a perfectly sealed surface. This not only makes them easier to clean, but also affords additional protection against scratching, staining and soiling.

Owing to its roots in the project market – think hotel or shop floors – each Pergo floor is available in two durability classes. On the one hand, class-33 Optimum floors are designed to withstand the heaviest foot traffic and are, for instance, ideal for hallways and offices. On the other hand, class-32 Premium floors offer a lighter, yet still high-performance alternative for less traffic intensive rooms, like your living room or bedroom. By adapting your flooring to the specific use in each room, this allows you to save money without compromising on either look or performance.
