Diespeker & Co shakes it up

In response to a rapidly expanding workload, London natural stone and terrazzo specialist Diespeker & Co has implemented a team restructure, with the introduction of four new roles.

The £2.4M turnover business, which has 40 employees and works with flooring contractors across London and the UK, promoted from within during the reorganisation and created one new position filled by an external candidate.

Tony Knowles, who started his career at Diespeker in the 1980s and returned to the company in 2012 becomes Diespeker’s Operations Director. This is a major step for MD John Krause, who until now has been sole director.

“During his time with us, Tony has more than proved his worth,” Mr Krause explained. “With the increase in business over the last few years this was a logical decision to make.”

Tony will direct production and day-to-day management of the Bermondsey factory and work closely on projects with existing Senior Project Manager, Keith Roberts. Tony will also liaise with Eddie Tebboth in his new role as Factory Foreman. Eddie has a wealth of management experience and will be overseeing maintenance and production.

Experienced craftsman Andy Brady has been promoted to supervise precast terrazzo production and development. Andy is Diespeker’s current in-house terrazzo expert and has been with the firm for over 20 years. He is highly accomplished in the manufacture of bespoke terrazzo using traditional skills as well as working with standard materials.

Additionally, Diespeker has created a brand new position for Kevin Meynard who joins the firm as the company’s first Business Development Manager with a key responsibility to develop and grow client relations.

“Diespeker has been at the forefront of the natural stone and terrazzo market in the UK since the company started trading here in the late 19th century,” said John Krause, who has himself worked at Diespeker for over 35 years.

“Back then, there was little competition for Diespeker and our ambition over the coming year or so is to consolidate our position as market leader in the sector. This reorganisation gives the business a much more rounded company structure which will help us achieve that aim.”
