Academy celebrates first TrustMark Installer – Quick-Step Academy

The Quick-Step Academy is celebrating its first ever Master Installer to become TrustMark accredited after rigorous independent inspection and testing in accordance with government-validated standards of workmanship.

The TrustMark scheme is the only government endorsement available for tradesmen, with a dedicated consumer website allowing consumers to search for approved workmen. The website has received over 2.5million total hits in the first 8 months of 2012, with 29,533 searches specifically for floorcovering installers, and The Quick-Step Academy is the only flooring manufacturer to have successfully completed the audit to become TrustMark approved.

All fitters who have completed the Quick-Step Master Installer course are invited to register with the TrustMark scheme, and in order to become TrustMark approved, Master Installers are subject to further testing by an independent body, Independent Inspections Ltd., who are synonymous in the flooring industry with their inspection work for the insurance sector. Company records are also looked at to ensure only the most reliable companies and individuals meet the requirements.

As Darren Robinson, training and development manager, Quick-Step Academy, explains, “Having our first TrustMark approved installer is very exciting for the Academy, and we hope that many more of our Master Installers will be inspired to work towards TrustMark approval. It can be a very lucrative move, as installers will not only be able to offer the free two-year Quick-Step installation guarantee, but also prove to potential customers that they have been independently assessed and deemed to provide exceptional service in accordance with demanding government-supported standards.”

The first TrustMark approved Master Installer, David Bacchus of The Wood Flooring Company in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, encourages other fitters to enrol with the Academy and begin their path to becoming a TrustMark approved tradesmen:

“In today’s climate, homeowners have to be savvy about to whom they give their hard-earned cash. The days of the cowboy builder are coming to an end; consumers are looking for quality workmanship backed up with references, recommendations and warranties. With my status as a Quick-Step TrustMark approved installer, I am instantly set apart from my competition and can offer customers the reassurance that they desire. Becoming TrustMark approved was a quick, easy and worthwhile process, and I strongly advise other fitters to grasp the opportunities available from the Quick-Step Academy with both hands, before competitors get there first.”

Starting his career in the flooring industry over 30 years ago as an apprentice for a luxury carpet company, David is now co-director of The Wood Flooring Company and specialises in fitting solid, engineered and parquet flooring. With a dedicated showroom in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, he is now looking forward to the benefits that being TrustMark approved will bring.
